Just Fur Fun

Hello Fab Friends!

One of the great gifts of working on the horse show circuit is the amazing clients we get to meet and work with every day. Another really amazing consequence is the wonderful friends we make in other vendors who we spend our days working alongside. Today we are putting the spotlight on Mona Straub of Just Fur Fun.

Mona Straub is the founder, designer and brains behind Just Fur Fun®.  After an extensive career in sales and marketing for Fortune 500 companies, she switched gears and redirected her life to another path; one that would fulfill her love of animals and utilize her business savvy.  Always looking for ways to express herself when just jewelry alone wouldn’t do, she came up with the idea to dress-up her dogs, cats, and horses in something different, yet elegant, that would be an expression of her…and Just Fur Fun® was born! Her first creation was the browband and from there she expanded into dogs and cats. Coming from an equestrian background and attending horse shows, Mona realized there was a very important and untapped space in serving the many dogs that go hand in hand with the horse show life. Mona and her husband have 5 rescue dogs - all dachshunds: Nathan, Shayna, Jonah, Melanie, & Roxy. They also have 5 cats that they have taken into their family: Shadow, Moochie, Sandy, Rocky, and Devin!

As a female business owner, Mona has an interest in helping other women in business and sharing her knowledge and experience.  She is inspired by successful women and would like to be an inspiration to other women seeking to develop their careers and build their businesses.  Being smart about resources and networking available to her has led Mona to become a Member of:

TED Center, Florida Women's Business Center, Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Administration, and Palm Beach State College Center for Business Development.  Mona was also awarded Runner-Up Entrepreneur of the Year 2012 by Score of South Palm Beach.

* Board Member of Dachshund Rescue of South Florida

* Co-founder and co-chair of Ride For the Animals *Committee

Member - Humane Society of Broward County’s Walk for the Animals

* Volunteer - Animal Haven Animal Shelter

* Volunteer - Tri-County Humane Society

* Volunteer - Little Smiles

Mona’s participation in multiple organizations for over 30 years has earned her recognition for several other Volunteer Awards.  Her philosophy of giving back began in her teens and she was named the Volunteer of the Year by Disney, making her at the time the youngest recipient of the Disney award.

A portion of profit from Just Fur Fun’s® is donated regularly to deserving organizations.  Mona also generously donates products to organizations that contact her to be used in charitable fundraisers, raffles and other drives.

All of these wonderful attributes have earned her the title of Pet Age 2019 Women of Influence Winner. The Women of Influence awards goes to female leaders in the pet industry who are influential both in their companies, and their communities. Recipients of this award must have a strong resume of experience, integrity, leadership and accomplishments. As part of the award, Women of Influence recipients will be profiled in the March issue of Pet Age.
